Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
