Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.

An important official stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
